The Fantasticast Episode 298: Marvel Two-in-One #46 - Battle In Burbank

The Fantasticast Episode 298

Oh So Tropey

Hello, and welcome to episode 298 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four.

This week, we've got a triple-shot of late-70s Marvel goodness for you. We start with Marvel Two-in-One #46, in which some jealousy over the Bill Bixby TV series leads The Thing to Hollywood, where a throwdown with the Hulk disrupts an attempted kidnapping of Karen Page. Allan Kupperberg, Chic Stone, Gaspar Saladino, Roger Stern, and Jim Shooter are along for the ride.

Then it's off to Earth-7812, which attempts to answer the question... What If Rick Jones Had Become The Hulk. What If? 312 sees Reed Richards trying to help Bruce Banner separate the teen from the monster. And finally, we swing by an introspective Spider-Man in Spectacular Spider-Man #25. Oh, and we also discover what the word is.

The Fantasticast Episode 291: Marvel Two-in-One #44 - The Wonderful World Of Brother Benjamin J. Grimm

The Fantasticast Episode 291

Narrativium Concludo

Hello, and welcome to episode 291 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four.

This is the story of community service gone wrong, of the fall of Olympus. This is the story of the dangers of smoking near children, and of naming your youth program 'Camp Runamok'. This is the story of Hercules casually flying a chariot down a New York street. This is the story of some truly hilarious wisecracks, a titanic team-up, and a bunch of cowardly gods. This, however, may or may not be an imaginary story... aren't they all?

Joining us to cover Marvel Two-in-One #44 is writer and Punisher podcaster Kelly Kanayama. Together, we dive into this delightful comic, examining if Hercules is truly a fan of The Bay City Rollers, what the placement of a comma before the 'TM' symbol means, and utter the immortal phrase: "Horny's catching up with us!". Come and join all three of us!

Find Kelly on twitter, where she is @KellyKanayama. Find Kelly's writing at Nerdist at https://nerdist.com/author/kelly-kanayama/. Frank Discussions can be found at https://www.mixcloud.com/KellyKanayama/, including the live episode, Bullseye For The Skull Guy, featuring occasional Fantasticast guest host Al "To Astonish" Kennedy.

Don't forget to join Steve at 3pm on Saturday 28th July at London Film & Comic Con as he interviews Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli about the upcoming Fantastic Four relaunch!

The Fantasticast Episode 267: Fantastic Four Annual #12 - The End Of The Inhumans... And The Fantastic Four!

The Fantasticast Episode 267

Thraxon, Thraxoff

Hello, and welcome to episode 267 of The Fantasticast. Each week, Steve Lacey and Andy Leyland guide you through every issue, guest-appearance and cameo of The Fantastic Four.

This week, we're jumping into a nest of continuity errors as we join the definitely-an-ongoing-concern that is the Fantastic Four for their 12th annual. The Inhumans are in trouble, having come under attack from both Thraxon and the Sphinx, and only Crystal, Lockjaw, and the Fantastic Four can save them from the plots of this immortal super-villain (and his lackey).

Joining us for this episode is podcaster Mark Adams. Mark is the host of the Marksmess series of podcastsm including Marksmess vs The Evolutionary War, Marksmess vs Atlantis Attacks, and The Marksmess Podcast, as well as the World War I podcast looking at the letters of his grandfather, John Adams: Letters From The Front.

Mark joins us to examine this giant-size comic from Marv Wolfman, Bob Hall, Keith Pollard, Bob Wiacek, and Marie Severin. Along the way, we create the 'Ben's Finger' test, encounter Anabelle and her Singing Appendix Scar, discover that we don't know how to pronounce 'Wiacek', and discover that Steve is a Formula One Expert (TM).

Mark and his podcasts can be found at http://marksmesspodcasts.blogspot.co.uk, on twitter where he/they are @marksmesspodcas, and on Facebook. The letters of John Adams can be found at http://johnadams.org.uk/letters/
